"Will" or " Snakes" Heverin (1860-1951);of Charlestown, Maryland and is located in Cecil County at the head of the great Chesapeake Bay on a smaller bay known as the Northeast Bay. The Northeast Bay is considered the open waters at the mouth of the Northeast River and where Charlestown is located.
Will Heverin was a hunter for 6 months of the year and a fisherman for 6 months of the year. he lived his entire life where he grew up, the shores of the Northeast River. He was a hunter for 6 months of the year and the balance he spent being a fisherman. He carved decoys for over 50 years and made canvasback, redhead, bluebills and black ducks out of any size of wood he could find, which there is a great variance to the size of his decoys. There are examples of Canvasbacks that were carved the size of teal and black ducks the size of geese.
