F334 Late 19th Century/Early 20th Century working goose decoy from Dorchester County, Maryland. Very unusual form. Body is all hand-chopped out of one piece of wood with a chunky head and short bill, in old working repaint. You can still see draw knife marks visible on the tail. Goose is branded on the bottom with the initials 'R. C. B.' This Decoy started out as a field goose and was later transformed via a flat lead weight on the bottom so that it could be used as a floater in water.
