RM756 Sword Rare Civil War Confederate John Mason of North Carolina carried this Model 1840 "Old Wristbreaker" Cavalry Saber in original scabbard. Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry sabers were extensively carried by both U.S. and C.S. Cavalry during the American Civil War. The famous Southern Cavalry General - General Nathan Bedford Forrest - carried one as did many in his command. This example has a nice clean blade, a perfect 3-branch brass guard - and original wrap grip. The metal scabbard is perfect with a smooth brown aged patina.
