A243 Early 20th century Model of the Chesapeake Bay Bugeye, with a 48 star flagThe bugeye was a type of sailing work boat unique to the Chesapeake Bay. Designed for oyster dredging, it was also used for hauling freight in the Bay’s shallow waters. Bugeyes were first built after the Civil War. This Bugeye retains it's original sail, and found in a private collection where has been for the past 40 years, it is wood circa 1920
