G554 Mid 19th century New England lidded table top dough box in beautiful dry original blue paint. Canted side boards are dovetailed with tall, rounded and canted ends. There is an applied wooden handle on each end for ease in picking up the dough box. The bottom is secured with square head nails. Two raised battens are screwed to the lid to keep it from twisting and/or warping and both are notched which allow them to also be used as convenient handles when removing or replacing the lid. Loss to one corner of the bottom board as seen in photos. Great natural patina on inside, wear on outside is indicative of age and use.
Measurements: 35” long x 17 3/4” deep. Sides are 10 1/2” tall and ends are 12 1/4” tall.
