G555 19th century Crudely made wall box with dovetailed drawer and relief carved heart in original dark Windsor green paint. Very roughly hewn wood and hand carved wooden knob. Drawer and bottom board are dovetailed construction, all other areas are constructed with round head nails. The wonkiness of this piece adds a whimsical character - especially the catawampus shape of the tall back board as seen in photographs. Circa 1880 -1890’s. Found in a home in Georgia.
Measurements: 20” tall x 4 1/2” deep. The width of the bottom is 7”, whereas the width at top of wall box’s opening is 7 1/2”. The back board is 7/8” thick, sides are 1/2” thick.
