G621 Early 19th century identified and dated Sampler
stitched in a row by row style with intricate borders that include both geometrical shapes as well as depictions of flowers/trees. Sampler features a visually appealing layout and combination of both filled and basic outlined borders surrounding a center field of alphabet letters, and script that is stitched above a pictorial setting of a Church with tall spires bearing crosses, surrounded by depiction of various trees and what appears to be four individual dogs, along with various geometrical shapes. Cotton stitched on Linen, with very minor losses/stains. Colors include various tans, blues, a cream color, and what appears to be a dark brown.
Framed measurements are 20” wide x 19 3/4” tall x 1” thick. Sampler area under glass measures 17” wide x 16 3/4” tall.
