G720 Pair of early 19th century identified and dated, framed silhouettes with embossed maker’s marks. Each silhouette is framed with glass in both front and back, with “peek-a-boo” cutouts on the back showing the identity of the subject as well as the date. The Lady is identified as “Mrs. Sheppard 1831” and the Gentleman is identified as “Mr. J Sherwin 1831”. The matching frames are wooden and are gold gilded on the front sides only. Frames show wear indicative of age. Embossed maker’s marks are visible in the top corner of each silhouette, with the lady’s being in the upper left corner and reads “Dobbs & Co.” the Gentleman’s is in the upper right corner, however only the words “London B…” is decipherable. Framed measurements: 11 3/4” tall x 7” wide.
