**SOLD** L176 Beautiful 19th century Pennsylvania mortar and pestle bearing its original dry yellow painted surface. The solid wooden mortar boasts a tall, shaped stem, shaped footed base and beautifully turned bowl with a banded rim and delicately tapered interior lip surrounding the opening and incised rings decorating the exterior. Natural patina interior with wear from years of use. Several surface cracks from age and shrinkage. The decoratively carved, heavy solid wooden pestle retains its natural patina surface with fantastic wear from years of use.
Measurements: 4 ¾” diameter (bottom) x 4 5/8” diameter (top) x 7” tall. The pestle measures ~8 ¼” long.
