**SOLD** L177 19th century mortar and pestle with simply turned  blue painted surface. Small bands of very faint incised rings are evident around the top and a tapered inner lip encircles the opening. Mortar is carved from a single piece of wood and bears cracks from age and drying of the wood . The pestle, which appears to be original to the mortar, also retains remnants of the original blue paint. Natural patina interior with great wear. Measurements: 4 5/8” diameter (top) x 5” diameter (bottom) x 7” tall. Pestle measures 8 ½” long.
