**SOLD** L273 Identified early 19th century miniature blanket chest bearing original red painted surface with black and mustard pinstripe decoration. Chest features six-board construction with a dovetailed case and an applied dovetailed bracket base. Applied molding secured with tiny “T” nails surrounds the lid. Clean, natural patina interior with lidded till inside. The writing on the back identifies the chest as being given to Lois Kelly Redkill (1831-1913) by Wm. Ballard (1830-1905).
Historical records indicate the two were married in 1854 and are both buried in Roxbury, Delaware County, New York – where Mr. Ballard had been a prosperous Farmer during his lifetime.
Measurements: 19” wide x 9 ¾” deep x 10 ¾” tall.
