RM1473 Charming identified and dated Pennsylvania miniature blanket chest retaining original red and black painted surface with clean, natural patina interior. The chest boasts a dovetailed case with applied molding around lid and bottom and rests on turned feet that are mortised through the bottom. Inside the lid is stenciled prominently in pencil with “M.F. 1844” and “N.M.F., 1874” – and there are what appears to be several names (unreadable) and dates less prominently written both on the inside of the lid and on the bottom of the chest. This miniature chest bears such great characteristics that would be appealing to sit alone and admire all by itself or add to a stack. Measurements: 13 ¾” wide x 7 ¼” deep x 9 ½” tall
