G497 Stunning Early 19th Century Pennsylvania Dough Box in beautiful blue paint. Tightly dovetailed and pegged construction with an apron around the bottom that follows the taper of the legs. Molding surrounds the base of the dough box, just above the apron. The box is secured to the base with early screws and several original cut nails. Wonderful two board scrub top is reinforced with a batten screwed underneath on each end – which also act as guides when sliding the top on/off the bottom. Circa 1820s.
