H967 Original Windsor green painted lidded firkin with tongue and groove softwood staved sides secured with tapered lap joint wood bands held in place with copper tacks. Remnants of maker's stamp visible on top of lid. Wooden swing handle attached by large buttonhead wooden pins. Very clean, natural patina interior. Measurements: 12 1/2" diameter (bottom) x 11 3/4" diameter (top) x 12" tall.

Steamed and bentwood constructed with a pine top and bottom and very thin maple or birch sides held in place with extremely tiny square nails and brass tacks. The fingers themselves are also secured with hand wrought brass tacks.  Original untouched surface bears the patina that can only come with time and use and shows normal usual wear and discoloration for its age.  Clean interior. Measurements:  11 7/8” x 8 ¼” oval x 4 ¾” tall.

F900 Antique Firkin C Wilder and Son South Hingham Mass 19th Century stampon on the lid, in old red paint. Hingham, a small town in Massachusetts was well known for coopering and bucket making as there were no known resources available for agriculture. In 1845, could be ten years earlier as there is conflicting information, Crocker and Alden Wilder founded "The Old Bucket Factory" on Cushing Pond that was run from steam power and the manufacture of wooden buckets was born. This new factory produced various designs and sizes for their buckets and were thought to have employed around 50 to 80 skilled craftsman that turned out about 1,000 pieces per day. Measurements:  9" top diameter x 9 3/4" bottom diameter x 10" tall.

G612 Historic Late 18th Century Military Wooden Drum , cut down and repurposed into a Pantry Box probably post Civil War when no longer needed. The Box retains a strong bittersweet red paint with brass tacks and Rose-head nails. The purpose of the holes around the lid is where the head of the drum was held together with ropes.
