*SOLD* G806 Spectacular mid 1800's Tall Clock in original red and black paint decoration that simulates the grain pattern of mahogany wood. Made in Bridgeton, Maine - with hand painted dial face and wooden works made by "R. Whiting, Winchester". Levi Russell bought Mountain Farm in 1844. "This clock was bought by him about 1830 for 13.50 in the town of Whitefield, Maine when he lived there" is written in cursive inside the door. The dial is hand painted on wood and is signed "R. Whiting, Winchester" in a gold banner positioned across the center of the dial.  The four spandrel areas and the arch are decorated with detailed hand painted floral and other patterns, along with gilt gesso work that has been gilded. Crack in glass at top of face.
7' tall x 17 3/4" wide x 9 1/2" deep at widest/deepest points.
