G925  Carlisle, Pennsylvania identified and dated, hand wrought Sampler from featuring a center block encasing rows of alphabet stitched in both capital and lower case letters, along with bands of geometric designs that hover over a stitched verse that reads:   “If we to day sweet peace possess / It soon may be withdrawn / Some change may plunge in distress / Before to morrows dawn”  The area around the verse is decorated with stitched florals/trees and an arch of vines/florals covers the maker’s name: “Jane Edmonds Sampler / Carlisle  October 10th 18”. An intricate border of stitched vines/florals/buds surrounds the entire Sampler. Retains original frame that is 2 ½” wide, and a few bubbles are evident in the glass.  Framed measurements: 22” wide x 22 ¼” tall. Sampler area measures 17 ¼” wide x 17 ½” tall.
