H1004 Late 19th century wooden Country Store Advertising Riser in original red painted surface with "Universal Food Chopper" painted in gold letters around the top. The turned center post is mortised through the top. Molded edge surrounds the top. This stand was used as a store display for Universal Food Choppers for sale in the late 1890’s – early 1900s when the tool became a necessity in kitchens for grinding meats and vegetables. Rings remain on the underside edge of the top indicating where several choppers were displayed over time. This is a great piece of advertising history as the Universal Food Chopper was patented in October 1897.
