H347  .“What fabulous piece of  folk art!”  this wooden Rooster weathervane with great original surface,  is from New England . A weathervane served a clear purpose– to tell the direction the wind was blowing–But not everyone bought their weathervane out of a catalogue. Some vanes are true folk art, fashioned by the homeowner or farmer who needed one but for whatever reason didn’t buy, or couldn’t afford, an expensive gilded weathervane. Such as this one, hand crafted from wood, with early repair to both sides. with traces of old  paint 25" wide x 38 1/2" tall
