H968 19th century New England beautiful original dark blue painted lidded firkin with tongue and groove softwood staved sides secured with tapered lap joint wood bands held in place with copper tacks and a single staple at the end of each band. Remnants of maker's stamp visible on top of lid. Wooden swing handle attached by large buttonhead wooden pins. Very clean, natural patina interior. Measurements: 10" diameter (bottom) x 9 1/2" diameter (top) x 9 3/4" tall.
