H995 Stunning Soap Hollow (Somerset County, Pennsylvania) Chest of Drawers featuring a beautiful red and black paint decorated surface, decorative cut out backsplash and drop apron, intricate inlaid wooden escutcheons on four drawers, panel ends and applied molding around the top. Two over four drawer configuration, resting on turned feet. Dovetailed drawers retain crisp beaded edges with original mustard painted detailing around each drawer front. The case and drawer stretchers are fully mortised and wooden pegged. Drawer guides are dovetailed into the posts of case. Nice, thick chamfered panels on the back. Square head nail construction. Hidden locking system evident on underside of top two small drawers. Circa mid-19th century.
Measurements: 38” wide x 20 ½” dee x 48 ¾” tall (front) x 55 ¼” tall
(back). The raised feet are a full 7” tall.
