I5 Wonderful, late 19th century oil painting depicting a group of five small birds huddled together along a block wall beneath a tree bearing white blossoms.  Oil on canvas – mounted to the back of a Victorian Era shadowbox frame with tiny square head nails. Remnants of faint pencil writing visible on back – which appears to read “Christmas 1885” and “Mrs. S…..”.  The deep shadowbox frame retains what appears to be the original refinished surface with black painted accents and is small square head nail construction. Framed measurements:  9 ½” wide x 13 ¼” tall x 2 ¾” deep (frame itself is only 2” deep). The canvas measures 8” wide x ¾” thick x 10” tall.
