J234 19th century original gray painted Mortar and Pestle. Each part is turned from one solid piece of wood. Both the pestle, and the interior of the mortar, retain wonderful natural patina. Very sturdy with good weight. No cracks. The Mortar measures 8” tall x 6” diameter bottom with a 2 1/4” wide band around the bottom before the sides curve around the bowl and taper back in to a 6 ¼” diameter top. Pestle appears to be original to the mortar and measures 12” long with wear indicative of years of use.
