J374 18th century rare, and very unique carved wooden book shaped hand warmer. The edge that resembles the pages of the book bears a sliding door lined with a heavy sheet metal that is signed by the maker: “J BRADLEY”.  The sliding door opens to reveal a copper lined interior with a block of heavy metal. The metal block was heated in the fire/coals then placed inside the lined box. The wood is walnut. Circa 1720’s-1730’s. 

Measurements: 4 ½” deep x 2 3/8” wide x 8 ¼” tall
