*SOLD* J441 Exceptional, identified and dated framed Needlework Sampler that reads: “SIMILE – A sampler resembles an elegant mind, Whose passions by reason subdued & refin’d - Move only in lines of affection and duty, - Reflecting a picture of order and beauty.  Aletta Ann Cooper  1839” Urns, baskets and vines of flowers, birds and geometrical shapes adorn the symmetrical layout. For such an early and exceptional sampler, there are only a few very minor fabric losses to the linen background.  Framed measurements: 18 ¼” wide x 18” tall
