K1504 19th century original oyster white painted wooden Lantern featuring four bubbled glass panels contained within a wooden pinned and post construction frame with decorative chamfered edges on each corner post. The wood is pine. The door to access the candle area is attached with tiny hinges and secured with a tiny wire loop that turns to open the door. The top is covered in sheet metal with a hole for ventilation purposes which is covered on the exterior with a curved piece of sheet metal to create a hood that protects the candle flame from wind/rain. A wire bale handle is attached to the top for carrying/hanging purposes. Circa mid-1800s.
Measurements: ~6” square x 10 ½” tall (not including handle).
