K151 Pennsylvania Folk Art hand carved wooden sculpture of a white painted chicken with glass eyes. Maker’s initials “WLP” are carved into the bottom – where it is also signed and dated by the maker “Nov 01 – William L. Porterfield”, of Holtwood, PA. The solid wooden body is hand carved with applied wings and the tall, rounded tail feathers are dovetailed/mortised into the body. The comb and wattle are painted leather construction. Yellow painted legs are heavy wire construction. The wood is pine. Approximate measurements:  11 ½” long x 3” wide. Overall height is 19” tall. (Base measures 4” x 4 1/8” x 6” tall)
