**SOLD** K1567 19th century Folk Art Iron heart motif doormat constructed of individually handmade and bent heart shapes hooked together in a way that allows them to mold perfectly into the one next to it.
These highly desirable heart mats were sometimes referred to as “mud mats” or “sweetheart mats” since the heavy metal would scrape mud from shoes/boots, and one was considered a “sweetheart” for the courtesy of doing so when entering a person’s home.
Circa 1880s-1920s. Great condition.
Measurements: 27" x 19” x 3/8” thick.
