K1774 Mid-19th century identified Pennsylvania original red painted and black decorated foot stool. The bottom of the stool boasts original painting with ornate writing that reads: “From F. E. Oberholtzer  1864" painted in decorative pumpkin letters with tan shadowing on a light yellow background. Stool boasts decorated drop aprons on each side that are mortised into the legs, and the boot jack cut out legs are mortised through the top. Square head nail construction.
Measurements: 14” wide x 8” deep x 8 ½” tall.
NOTE: Franklin “Frank” Eckert Oberholtzer (1846-1926) of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was married to Catherine Reichert Kindig (1849-1905) and they had 6 children. This stool was most likely a wedding gift to his bride.
