K1796 19th century American Schoolgirl Needlework Sampler Signed “Mary A. Snider her Sampler worked in the year of our Lord 1834”  “Age 1 (?) Years”.  Sampler is stitched with what appears to be cotton threads over linen material and boasts blues, browns, tans, green, pink and ecru colors in a row-by-row format featuring repeating alphabets, numbers, and geometrical patterns. Various versions of flowers, birds and trees in baskets / urns and a multi-storied house adorn the field of the sampler. This Sampler has been professionally mounted and framed and bears the original framer’s label from “Buckingham’s Inc. – Washington D.C.” intact on back.
Framed measurements: 21” wide x ¾” thick x 19 ½” tall.
