K287 Early 19th century identified and dated, hand-stitched sampler by “Jane Mc Creath Aged 9 in the year 1841”.  A verse: “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth * Jesus wept” and a row of initials is stitched below the alphabet bands. Sampler is stitched with what appears to be cotton threads over linen material and boasts blues, golden browns, tans, green, and blue colors.  The top portion of the sampler features a band with a row of flowers / vines over bands of double alphabet and the numbers 1-10, along with bands of partial alphabets (letters a-v, a-s, and A-P) Geometric bands separate the rows. Various versions of flowers, trees, birds and crowns adorn the lower field of the sampler. Minor stitching losses throughout however the colors remain vibrant and the fabric is remarkably preserved for its age. Wire on back for hanging purposes.
 Framed measurements are 10 ¼” wide x ½” thick x 17 ½” tall.
