K46 18th century Pennsylvania framed hollow-cut silhouette of a woman against a black fabric background. Original frame and thick, bubbled glass that is secured via small “T” and square-head nails. The very early ring intact on top for hanging purposes also appears to be original.  In this type of silhouette, the profile was cut out and discarded. The remaining surrounding paper was then placed against black paper or silk fabric to prominently reveal the wonderful profile. Circa 1790 – 1810. Framed measurements: 7 ½” wide x 7/8” thick x 9 ¼” tall.
