K82 Early 19th century Pennsylvania Mortar and Pestle bearing original blue painted surface. Very simple turnings, with faint remnants of incised lines around the bowl and base areas. A large, vertical open age crack along one side of bowl was packed at some point with fabric. A great “make-do” repair, of which remnants remain inside the crack. Interior of mortar bears incised rings, a tapered rim, and shows extensive wear and great natural patina from years of use.
Measurements: 7 ½” tall x 4 7/8” diameter (bottom) x 4 ½” diameter (top). Pestle measures 10 ¼” long.
