L214 Rare style 19th century large glass and tin Gunning Light / Lantern with three glass panels and a folding mirrored reflective panel on each side. The front glass panel is a hinged door for access to the fuel chamber / glass chimney inside. Lantern has a heavy wooden base for stability. Sturdy wire bail handle on top for carrying purposes. There are two original long heavy wire ‘hooks’ attached to top to secure the side panels in both the open position, and to lock them securely in the closed position.
Very unique design.
Measurements: 11 ¼” wide (with reflector sides closed) x 8 ¼” deep (center) x 18 ¾” tall (with handle up).
The side reflector panels each measure 11 ¾” wide/deep x 13” tall.
Overall width with reflective panels locked in the open position is 30 ½” wide.
