L266C 19th century Pewter Spouted Pitcher - Quart sized - with "ST. JAMES TAVERN" engraved on the bottom. Circa 1837-1850s. This is known as a “One in and two out” or a “You and Me” pitcher. The Innkeeper / Tavern keeper would present this Quart pitcher filled with ale, along with two empty pint-size tankards. The ale was poured from this pitcher into each of the pint size tankards – known as “one for you and one for me.” If additional ale was requested, the Innkeeper / Tavern keeper would refill this pitcher accordingly.
Measurements: 4 3/8" diameter base x 6 3/8" tall.
