M239 Excellent example of an early 18th century – identified - New England original green painted Sea Chest bearing a hand painted Mariner’s Compass on top of the lid and a variation of one on the inside of the lid. The front panel bears two hand painted flags facing each other. Lidded till inside bears the name “J. A. Lanham” painted in green along the edge of the till’s lid. Six board construction with “T” nailed case and interior strap hinges are secured with rosehead nails. The interior bears natural patina. Original rope and wooden Becketts (handles) remain intact. Measurements: 42 ¾” wide x 17 ¼” deep x 17 ½” tall.
