**SOLD** M250 Late 19th century Pennsylvania Dry measure in early dry blue painted surface. Thick walled staved and bentwood construction secured with two metal bands. Branded “4 QTS.” Along the top edge and bears an original brass label that reads: “FROM MICHELL’S SEED HOUSE  518 MARKET ST  PHILA.” Great wear and patina from age and years of use. These were used in general stores to measure out dry goods such as grains, sugar, etc. 
(Research indicates Michell’s Seed Company was started in 1890 and moved into the location at 518 Market Street in 1900.) 
Measurements: 9” top diameter x 8 ½” bottom diameter x 6 ¾” tall sides.
