M269 Very rare and unusual, late 19th century Pennsylvania wooden Lantern featuring four glass panels contained within a wooden post and pinned construction frame boasting old oyster white painted surface. Tiny wire loop hinges allow the door to open freely for access to the crudely made circular sheet iron grease/oil lamp rather than a regular candle socket. The grease/oil lamp has its original wick support and hinged lid still intact. There is a hole in the top for ventilation purposes which is covered on the exterior with a bent piece of sheet metal to create a hood that protects the candle flame from wind/rain. There are several make-do repairs to the top. A thick wire bail handle is attached to the top for carrying/hanging purposes.
Measurement: 7” square x 10 ¾” tall at corner posts. Overall height is approximately 15 ½” tall including handle in upright position.
