M297 19th century Pennsylvania hand woven splint Gathering Basket in original blue painted surface. Very sturdy basket with shallow sides and a double steamed and bent rimmed opening with a 1 1/8” wide steamed and bent handle secured with tiny tacks and a tin “T” bracket on each side of the handle-basket junction for added support. The slats used for the bottom are 1 ½”-1 ¾” wide. Very minor losses – commensurate with age and use.
Measurements: 25 ½” x 13 ½” x 3 ½”-4” tall sides, depending on where measured. ~8” tall at handle.
