M308 Exceptional early 19th century identified and dated, hand-stitched sampler by “Catharine O Hevius   Aged 11 years   January 29th 1828”.  Sampler is stitched with what appears to be cotton threads over linen material and boasts blues, green, brown, and ecru colors.  Features a central verse entitled “On Education” above her identification and the full Bible verse of “Prov. 31st chap 30. 31st verses” below. This fantastic work is surrounded by an intricate vine and flowers along all four edges. Appears to have been professionally mounted and framed as a sticker from “L. Bamberger & Co – Newark, NJ” remains intact on the back. Wire on back for hanging purposes.
Framed measurements are 17 ¾” wide x 18 ¼” tall x 3/8" thick.
