M323 Excellent early 20th century Hand-hooked Rug from Maine depicting a Rooster crowing at the rising morning sun with a house in the distance with smoke from a cozy morning fire escaping the chimney. Vivid colors of various wool fabrics are very tightly hooked on old burlap.
The maker’s creative placement of colors adds a feeling of depth to the overall scene.
A border of multiple rows of browns creates the appearance of a frame to this unique rug. Not mounted.
