MZ1 late 19th century Shaker Gathering Basket Circa 1876 1900 :Large oval vertical slat basket with double swing handle. Kentucky Shaker picket fence baskets were used primarily for toting laundry and gathering wool. This antique Shaker basket is in pristine condition with no breaks or cracks. The basket has beautiful patina and is in completely untouched original condition.Two similar examples, showing the same construction techniques, were in a Willis Henry Shaker auction in Sept 2005 (lot 73, sold for $750).
