RM1288 Great folk art 19th century hand carved 3-dimensional Eagle with remnants of gold and mustard paint over the original gray paint. The carving is simple, yet includes details such as defined eyes, beak, mouth, and even has the tomial tooth in the front of its beak. Construction appears to consist of layered wood held together with both glue and tiny nails, which can be seen in the photos. There is a hole in the back, as well as a more secure (modern) hook for easy hanging. The wood is white pine. There are a couple of nails that stick out around the neck area. Circa 1860. Measurements: approximately 12 3/4” wide x 5.5” tall x approximately 4.5” deep
