RM1335 Early 19th century Southern miniature hand woven rib and split oak gathering basket bearing wonderful natural patina. Primitive rib and splint type basic construction created with two wooden hoops that are joined by pieces of twine. The vertical hoop forms both the handle and bottom - while the horizontal hoop forms the rim. Rounded splints form the ribs with thinner/flat splits  woven into the ribs to form the holding area of the basket.  Approximate
