RM1407 Early 19th century New England identified wooden firkin in beautiful original blue painted surface. The name "Ephraim Murdock Jr" is stamped into the top of the lid. Tongue and grooved staved wooden sides and top are secured by double overlapping bent wood bands at the top and bottom. The bands are secured by small copper tacks and a small staple at the end of each of the fingerlaps. Steamed and bentwood swing handle is attached with wooden pegs. Clean, natural patina interior. One small chip to lid at a juncture of tack in the band. Measurements: 12” diameter (top) x 12 ½” diameter (bottom) x 11 ¾”tall
