RM1522 Civil War Spur with original leather strap and buckle and an early handwritten tag attached that reads: “Yankee spur, found on Battlefield of McDowell, in which Jackson defeated Milroy May 8th, 1862 Presented by S.W. Lauck Harrisonburg, Va” The opposite side of the tag reads: “Mrs. C. H. Revercomb Covington, Va.”. Approximate measurements: 3 ¾” wide x 5 ¼” long/deep. (Note: Samuel William Lauck (1864-1931) was born in Frederick Co., VA, the son of gunsmith Simon Lauck (1816-1901). By 1900 he had relocated to Harrisonburg, VA, where he became a successful businessman. Mrs. C. H. Revercomb (1871-1948) was the wife of Charles Howard Revercomb (1863-1949), a prosperous farmer and postmaster of Covington, VA.)
