XXXX4 18th century Eastern Shore, Maryland splay leg Hepplewhite table bearing original blue painted surface. The underside of the top boasts chamfered edges - giving the appearance of a thinner top – and is secured to the base with large rosehead nails and wooden pegs. The end of each gracefully tapered splay leg is mortised into the underside of the top for added stability. This table is very sturdy, and heavy, as it is made of solid yellow pine wood. From an Estate in Caroline County, Maryland. Circa 1750-1780s.
Measurements: 22 5/8” x 28” x 25 ¼” tall.
